What is Solder Explosion-proof foil gasket? It’s a gasket to support and avoid solder explosion proof between motherboards of PCB and chips when laminating.

Functions: when the motherboards are laminated, there will be a force of going down from top motherboard. And when the force is too big, that causes the tin paste on the middle frame exploding and the welding points will short out. So a solder explosion proof foil is needed to put between top and bottom layers to limit their gap which is around 0.05mm.

After we learn about the function of solder explosion foil, we know how important it is and how to avoid solder tin explosion on the PCB and chips. We use it to raise the motherboard a bit and support the motherboard. So when we press the motherboard, the tin will not be “Exploded”. Theoretically, it should be near the stress points of the motherboard. Place a few of these in those points and try to place them on the ground pins as possible. After the motherboards are soldered, the foils will be soldered to it as well. Though the foil is conductive, but it’s not  connected to the top layer. This is why it should be placed on the ground pins. Basically it is a perfect fit. However, it’s okay to have a little gap because we’ve added the foils in it. As long as the tin points are soldered together, it is good to go.
